The Department of Neurosurgery is manned by Dr. S. Devaprasad who graduated from the Armed Forces Medical College and then did his M.Ch in Neurosurgery from NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF MENTAL HEALTH AND NEUROSCIENCES (NIMHANS) in Bangalore. He has also to his credit the DIPLOMATE OF NATIONAL BOARD in Neurosurgery. He is practicing neurosurgery in Kerala from 1994. He has visited various countries abroad for training including Singapore, Japan, Malaysia and United States of America. He has also worked in the Gulf State of Saudi Arabia. He specializes in microneuro surgery and is one of the few who operates or aneurysms and AV malformations. He has special interest in difficult brain tumors including trans-nasal, trans-sphenoidal pituitary surgery. He is trainedin stereotaxy and Video-endoscopy of brain. He has also to his credit dfficult spin aiproblems and does microsurgical discectomy and microsurgery for spinal tumors and also does spinal fixations. Micro- vascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia is being treated successfully at our hospital.

The Neurology department is well equipped to meet a wide range of neurological disorders including strokes, epilepsies, headache, degenerative, metabolic and toxic disorders. Neurology ICU set up can manage neurological emergencies like Status Epilepticus and disorders like Guillain Barre Syndrome andEncephalitis that may require mechanical ventilation. 16 channel Electroencep halography (EEG) lab is attached to Neurology Department.
